From her steam yacht Liberty, Lucy Houston, a former chorus line dancer of the thirties, despatched five aeroplanes with crews to India to be the first over Everest. They were instructed to film the highest peaks and to look for signs of the missing climbers Irvine and Mallory. Her pilots only succeeded in the first and second objective. The filmed documentary of their epic story won an Oscar.
